Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Thomas R. Bradley for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. He distinguished himself as a Pilot of an unarmed photographic reconnaissance type aircraft on two missions flown deep into enemy territory, where enemy fire was expected and interception was attempted by hostile aircraft. Flying to southeastern Manchuria on 25 June 1944, he found photography was impossible as the area was entirely covered by clouds. Using sound judgment, he proceeded to an important industrial area in Occupied China and obtained valuable information on enemy installations located there. On 4 August 1944, while photographing a target previously struck by our bombers, precise timing was extremely important owing to the presence of several thunderstorms in the area. He timed his arrival over the target area to coincide with one of the brief periods when the air was unobscured by clouds and obtained valuable photographs. Information obtained from the photographs taken on these missions was of great value in planning future operations against the enemy. The outstanding judgment and skill Lieutenant Bradley displayed in these missions reflect great credit to himself and on the Army Air Forces.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Thomas R. Bradley for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot, from 17 February 1944 to 31 December 1944. Flying photographic-reconnaissance type aircraft from Chinese bases during the cited periods he participated in 200 or more hours of combat flight. His aircraft necessitated his serving not only as a Pilot, but as a Photographer and Navigator, as well. Unarmed he flew over heavily defended enemy territory where hostile fire was probable and expected in order to obtain the photographic intelligence on enemy installations which is so essential to our operations. The skill and courage exhibited by this officer reflect great credit upon his personal records and is in keeping with the traditions of the Army Air Forces.
