Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Roger D. Veillon for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Flight Mechanic on a CH-3E helicopter in Southeast Asia on 10 March 1970. On that date, Sergeant Veillon was in the lead helicopter launched to make an emergency extraction of a forward reconnaissance team deep in hostile territory. Because the team’s position would not allow a landing, Sergeant Veillon directed the aircraft to a hover and exposed himself to heavy ground fire while hoisting the team on board, then with his accurate gunfire he suppressed the ground fire long enough to permit a safe departure and successful rescue of the team. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Veillon reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster) to Staff Sergeant Roger D. Veillon for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Flight Mechanic of a CH-3E helicopter in Southeast Asia on 26 November 1970. On that date, Sergeant Veillon was in a flight of helicopters deep in hostile territory on a mission to move friendly soldiers clear to a tactical objective. Despite hostile ground fire and mortar attacks directed at his aircraft, Sergeant Veillon continued his mission and successfully completed the vital troop movement. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Veillon reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
