Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster) to First Lieutenant John G. Morgan for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as the pilot of a UC-123 at Quang Tin Province, Republic of Vietnam, on 18 February 1970. On that date, Lieutenant Morgan flew an extremely hazardous low level defoliation mission of the highest priority into a known high threat hostile forces crop complex. During the spray run, intense ground fire was directed at Lieutenant Morgan's aircraft causing damage to the herbicide tank spewing its contents into the crew compartment. Despite these hazardous conditions, Lieutenant Morgan maintained his formation position and completed the spray run. His flying skill and mission conscious attitude were highly instrumental in successfully completing the mission and recovering the aircraft and crew safely. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Morgan reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant John G. Morgan for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as the Co-Pilot of a UC-123 in Quang Nam Province, Republic of Vietnam, on 10 April 1970. On that date, Lieutenant Morgan was the Lead Co-Pilot of a formation of seven low level defoliation aircraft on a crop destruction mission of the highest priority. During the spray run, Lieutenant Morgan's aircraft received intensive ground fire which resulted in the loss of the right engine. Disregarding several hits from hostile ground fire impacting in the crew compartment, Lieutenant Morgan expertly accomplished the emergency shutdown procedures and feathered the engine. Lieutenant Morgan's ability to perform emergency procedures perfectly under this most harrowing situation was certainly a vital factor in the safe recovery of the crew and aircraft. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Morgan reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
