Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain John C. Miller for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4C Pilot in Southeast Asia on 14 November 1966. On that date, Captain Miller was mission commander of a mission executed in support of friendly forces under attack by a large hostile unit. With unwavering calmness and courage, Captain Miller led his force directly to the target and delivered his ordnance with outstanding accuracy in the face of intense hostile ground fire. Resistance was completely destroyed, friendly forces were given effective relief and heavy casualties were inflicted on the hostile forces. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Miller reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (FIRST OAK LEAF CLUSTER) to Captain John C. Miller for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4C Pilot in Southeast Asia on 31 March 1967. On that date, Captain Miller was instructor pilot of the number two aircraft executing a close air support mission in defense of a Special Forces Reconnaissance Team encircled by a large hostile force. In the face of marginal weather conditions, mountainous terrain, and intense ground fire, Captain MIiller effected a precise and devastating attack on the aggressors, allowing friendly forces to re-establish contact with the Special Forces Team. His tenacity and professional manner in the face of a complex and demanding situation prevented an almost certain costly defeat for the friendly forces and contributed directly to the ensuing success of operations in the area. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Miller reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
