The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major David A. Kerzie for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4D Aircraft Commander at Dak Seang Special Forces Camp and Dak Pek Special Forces Camp, Republic of Vietnam from 1 April 1970 to 1 May 1970. During this period, Major Kerzie flew nine missions against the hostile units laying siege to the camps. Despite marginal operating conditions including hazardous terrain, limited weather, and intense hostile fire, Major Kerzie achieved outstanding results through his dedication and skill, his flights being credited with the destruction of ten hostile forces, one mortar position, and obtaining two secondary explosions of hostile munitions stores. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Kerzie reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster) to Major David A. Kerzie for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4D Aircraft Commander near Dak To, Republic of Vietnam on 8 October 1970. On that date, Major Kerzie was in a flight of two Phantoms scrambled from alert to attack an anti-aircraft emplacement which had been threatening friendly aircraft operating in the area. Despite intense ground fire and marginal weather, Major Kerzie’s flight was able to destroy the anti-aircraft weapon and its bunker in addition to three hostile troops. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Kerzie reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
