Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant James W. Green for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a UH-1F Helicopter Aerial Gunner near Duc Lap, Republic of Vietnam on 20 October 1970. On that date, Sergeant Green executed numerous devastating firing passes against a hostile force in support of a friendly long-range reconnaissance patrol. The accurate and lethal firepower provided by Sergeant Green resulted in the rescue of the entire patrol. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Green reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant James W. Green for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a UH-1F Helicopter Aerial Gunner near Tieu Atar, Republic of Vietnam on 4 January 1971. On that date, Sergeant Green was highly instrumental in the rescue of an embattled long-range reconnaissance patrol. Despite intense anti-aircraft fire and extremely dense smoke obscuring the target area, Sergeant Green repeatedly directed his fire with extraordinary skill and courage. He effectively countered the anti-aircraft fire to such an extent that an unarmed helicopter troop ship was able to rescue the team unharmed. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Green reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

3.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant James W. Green for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a UH-1N Helicopter Aerial Gunner near Loc Ninh, Republic of Vietnam on 28 March 1971. On that date, Sergeant Green was instrumental in the rescue of a long-range reconnaissance patrol deep in hostile territory. Despite intense ground fire, Sergeant Green directed his ordnance with such accuracy and devastation that the opposing forces were dispersed and the patrol was rescued. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Green reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
