Citation:  1.) The briefed staging hospitals, Major Brown was advised by the male nurse on board that three of the seriously wounded would not survive if he continued the mission as briefed. At this time, Major Brown decided to change course for Nha Trang where medical facilities for both Civilian Irregular Defense Group and American personnel were available. Combining his knowledge of the terrain, ability to navigate by radar, and superior airmanship, Major Brown flew a smooth mission, during which patients received emergency treatment. As a result, all the patients on board survived their combat wounds. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Brown reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
