Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Wayne G. Brown for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F4D Pilot over hostile territory on 24 October 1967. On that date, Lieutenant Brown participated in the first attack against a heavily defended airfield. While evading intense antiaircraft fire, surface-to-air missiles, and threats from hostile aircraft, Lieutenant Brown successfully executed this highly important mission. Photographs later showed the runway to be completely unusable. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Brown reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
