Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Bruce C. Young for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Forward Air Controller in Southeast Asia on 18 March 1971. On that date, Lieutenant Young located a large hostile storage area. Despite marginal weather and disregarding the heavy antiaircraft fire, he directed tactical fighters in the destruction of numerous cases of ammunition and a large supply of fuel, thus denying the hostile force of these valuable resources. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Young reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
