Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Michael L. Wright for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-13OE Instructor Loadmaster for the 345th Tactical Airlift Squadron at An Loc, Republic of Vietnam, on 25 April 1972. On that date, Sergeant Wright flew a tactical emergency low level airdrop of critically needed ammunition and supplies at night to a besieged concentration of allied forces located in a heavily defended hostile area. With complete disregard for his own personal safety, in spite of intense hostile ground fire and marginal visibility, Sergeant Wright performed his aircrew duties with exact precision, resulting in a completely successful night airdrop at An Loc. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Wright reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster) to Sergeant Michael L. Wright for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130E Loadmaster for the 345th Tactical Airlift Squadron at Kontum, Republic of Vietnam, on 7 May 1972. On that date, Sergeant Wright was on the ground, offloading a supply of ammunition for the friendly forces, when the airfield came under attack by hostile rockets and mortars, several of which impacted near the aircraft. Sergeant Wright directed the successful offloading of all ammunition despite the incoming fire, then visually guided the pilot as he taxied across the badly damaged airfield and made a successful takeoff and departure. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Wright reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
