Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major William R. Wilson for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4D Aircraft Commander over the Republic of South Vietnam on 23 May 1971. On that date, Major Wilson attacked a known hostile force location which also contained fuel and ammunition. Despite the high surrounding terrain, Major Wilson repeatedly attacked the hostile target completely destroying all the supplies and structures in that area. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Wilson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major William R. Wilson for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4E Aircraft Commander over Southeast Asia on 2 October 1971. On that date, Major Wilson led a mission against a known hostile troop location. Despite heavy ground fire in the target area, Major Wilson was able to successfully deliver all his ordnance destroying many boxes of ammunition and five bunkers, setting off three small secondary explosions and one sustained fire and killing five hostile troops. The professional competence aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Wilson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
