Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain David S. Wilson for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot over the Republic of Vietnam on 29 March 1969. On that night, Captain Wilson flew two successive sorties to answer urgent requests from a surrounded ground force in grave danger of being overwhelmed by a numerically superior hostile force, Making repeated low-altitude ordnance deliveries in the face of intense ground fire without the assistance of flare lighting, Captain Wilson's outstanding aerial skill and courage under hazardous conditions were responsible for inflicting numerous hostile casualties and completely disrupting the hostile attack and preventing further friendly casualties. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Wilson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
