Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Specialist Four Jeffrey L. Williams for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty. Specialist Four Williams distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as a crewmember aboard a UH-1C armed helicopter, called upon to support a Thai position which was being overrun by a large enemy force. Stopping only to refuel and rearm, the ship was constantly under heavy automatic weapons fire, as it made repeated passes over the enemy positions. Specialist Four Williams, using muzzle flashes and tracers to locate the enemy, laid deadly and devastating fire. As a result of his quick reaction, fierce determination, and accurate, devastating fire, the enemy was forced to break contact and was thwarted in its attempt to overrun the position. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
