Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Eliot B. Willauer, Jr. for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a KC-135 Inflight Refueling Technician in Southeast Asia on 4 July 1973. On that date, while in hostile territory, Sergeant Willauer refueled another aircraft performing a very important reconnaissance mission. The professional leadership of Sergeant Willauer insured the timely refueling of that aircraft and the successful completion of its vital mission. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Willauer reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
