2.)
The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Robert F. Wendrock, Jr., for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-111A Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 28 December 1972. On that date, Captain Wendrock flew a single ship night low-level strike against the heavily defended Kep Airfield. Despite marginal weather conditions, extremely heavy anti-aircraft fire and the threat of hostile aircraft attacks, Captain Wendrock skillfully flew his F-111A through hazardous mountainous terrain to strike Kep Airfield and crater the runway. His courageous and aggressive attack severely hindered North Vietnam's defense ability to follow on B-52 strikes. The profesisonal competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Wendrock reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
