Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer WO1 Bruce J. Webster for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Warrant Officer Webster distinguished himself by valorous actions on 22 October 1970, while serving in the Republic of Vietnam. While on a mission to extract a ground unit, Warrant Officer Webster flew his aircraft through a rainstorm to a hastily prepared pick-up zone. Night had fallen as Warrant Officer Webster descended into the area under the constant threat of hostile fire. Warrant Officer Webster held his aircraft at a hover while the ground troops climbed aboard. He then maneuvered his aircraft out of the pick-up zone and on to safety. Warrant Officer Webster's outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
