CONFLICT/SPACE FLIGHT/EVENT:  Vietnam

Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Alan H. Webster for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot, C-123K aircraft, at Thien Ngon Forward Operating Base, Republic of Vietnam, on 24 December 1970. On that date, Lieutenant Webster's aircraft was carrying combat essential fuel to the beleaguered Free World Forces at that remote installation. While Lieutenant Webster's aircraft was being offloaded, the base came under intense hostile ground fire. The expeditious actions of Lieutenant Webster enabled mission completion with no damage to the aircraft or injury to the crew. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Webster reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
