Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Chief Warrant Officer George P. Tebbetts for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Chief Warrant Officer Tebbetts distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 29 November 1970 in the Republic of Vietnam. While flying air artillery support for a convoy, Chief Warrant Officer Tebbetts observed one of his wing ships take intense anti-aircraft fire. With complete disregard for his own safety, Chief Warrant Officer Tebbetts engaged the enemy fortification. Despite the intense hostile fire, Chief Warrant Officer Tebbetts repeatedly attacked the hostile position with aerial rockets until it was completely destroyed. Chief Warrant Officer Tebbetts' professional tactics and bravery were instrumental in the successful completion of the mission. His outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
