Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Specialist Four John G.Tabor for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action, above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Specialist Four Tabor distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 28 January 1971 in the Republic of Vietnam. While on an urgent medical evacuation mission, Specialist Four Tabor's aircraft came under intense hostile fire from several enemy positions. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Specialist Four Tabor, on two vital attempts, leaned precariously from his aircraft to direct the urgent hoist to the injured men below. Specialist Four Tabor remained exposed to the heavy, hostile fire for several minutes. His outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
