Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Duncan M. Stewart for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 1 September 1968. On that date, Lieutenant Stewart's flight of two tactical fighter-bombers was diverted from its primary mission to assist in the recovery of a downed Pilot. Lieutenant Stewart made repeatedly accurate ordnance deliveries that resulted in the complete neutralization of his target and the successful recovery of the American airman. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Stewart reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Duncan M. Stewart for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4D Pilot over North Vietnam on 16 September 1968. On that date, Lieutenant Stewart took part in a highly successful night armed reconnaissance mission directed against one of North Vietnam's most heavily defended transportation and supply networks, in the face of overwhelming ground fire, Lieutenant Stewart made repeatedly accurate ordnance deliveries that resulted in the complete neutralization of a large hostile truck convoy and storage area, thus significantly impeding the flow of hostile materials destined for use against friendly forces in South Vietnam. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Stewart reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
