Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Corporal Dale N. Spridik for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Aerial Gunner of a Bomber Plane in Marine Bomber Squadron Four Hundred Thirteen during operations against enemy Japanese forces in the Bismarck Archipelago Area from 1 to 27 March 1945. Completing his twentieth mission during this period, Corporal Spridik participated in medium-level bombing and night-heckling strikes against enemy positions on Vunakanau and in the Vicinity of Kavieng. Despite hostile opposition, he rendered invaluable assistance to his Pilot, thereby contributing materially to the success of his plane. His skill, courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
