Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to John F. Scott, 1st Lieutenant, Army Air Forces, United States Army for extraordinary achievement while serving as co-pilot of a Flying Fortress on numerous bombardment missions over German occupied Continental Europe. In skillfully aiding the pilot of his aircraft, Lieutenant Scott has materially contributed to the success of numerous assaults against the enemy’s war machine. The courage and technical proficiency displayed by Lieutenant Scott on all these occasions are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Army Air Forces of the United States.
