Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Ronald R. Scheck for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as F-4D Pilot near Quang Tri City, Republic of Vietnam on 27 June 1968. On that date, Lieutenant Scheck made numerous attacks against a heavily defended fortified village held by hostile forces. The courage and dedication of Lieutenant Scheck, in the face of severe defensive reaction, saved countless American lives as the village was subsequently taken with little or no resistance. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Scheck reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
