Citation: 1.) The Distinguished Flying Cross, Major Eugene M. Scesniak distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130B Navigator at Phuoc Vinh, Republic of Vietnam on 10 March 1969. On that date, Major Scesniak's aircraft was hit in the right wing by anti-aircraft fire. Upon landing, fuel was streaming out of the wing into the area of the hot engines. Major Scesniak rushed to the passenger compartment and calmly organized the expeditious evacuation of the passengers. His self-assured leadership prevented panic among the passengers. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Scesniak reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force Force.
