Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Ronald F. Sammonds, 600th Bombardment Squad, 398th Bombardment Group (H), for extraordinary achievement while serving as Radio Operator of a B-17 airplane on a number of combat bombardment missions over Germany and German occupied countries from 27 June 1944 to 3 October 1944.
