Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major William G. Robb for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as the Aircraft Commander of a C-130 aircraft in Southeast Asia on 27 January 1968. On that date, Major Robb's mission was the emergency resupply of critically needed ammunition to the besieged airfield at Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam. Despite adverse weather conditions, hostile ground fire, and the hazards inherent in operating into a forward airfield, Major Robb successfully accomplished this vital mission. His courage and superb airmanship contributed significantly to the airlift mission in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Robb, reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major William G. Robb for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a C-130 aircraft at Hue Phu Bai Airfield when he was informed that the airfield was closed due to an active attack by unfriendly combat forces. Despite the extremely hazardous conditions involved, Major Robb successfully landed and evacuated eighty-three wounded personnel to the safety of a rear area and hospital facilities. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Robb reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
