Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Clifford H. Rees, Jr., for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a combat strike Pilot with the 44th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Detachment 3, 18th Tactical Fighter Wing, Republic of Vietnam on 8 May 1965. On that date, while his First Lieutenant was attacking a heavily defended ammunition and supply depot, Captain Rees' aircraft was badly damaged by hostile ground fire. With disregard for his own personal safety, Captain Rees elected to continue his attack through the barrage of anti-aircraft fire and, in doing so, scored a direct hit on the target area, starting large fires and setting off secondary explosions. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Rees reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Clifford R. Rees, Jr., for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Pilot over Southeast Asia on 17 February 1966. On that date, Captain Rees led a flight of F-105's launched on an emergency scramble in supply of a forward search and rescue airfield under heavy mortar attack. Although experiencing fuel transfer problems, Captain Rees continued the mission, repeatedly braving intense and accurate hostile fire. Through his superb leadership and extremely accurate weapons delivery the hostile attack was repulsed. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Rees reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
