Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Staff Sergeant David V. Randolph for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a C-123 Instructor Flight Engineer at Katum Airfield, Republic of Vietnam on 8 September 1968. On that date, Sergeant Randolph was diverted from his scheduled mission to accomplish a Combat Essential resupply mission. Disregarding personal safety while under hostile mortar fire, Sergeant Randolph successfully delivered a cargo of ammunition to the ground forces at Katum without sustaining injury to the crew or damage to the aircraft. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Randolph reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
