CONFLICT/SPACE FLIGHT/EVENT:  Vietnam
MODEL:  C-130B

Citation:  1.) The Distinguished Flying CRoss for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130B Flight Engineer at Kham Duc Airfield, Republic of Vietnam, on 20 July 1970. On that date, Sergeant Radford flew repeated sorties into this forward airfield through adverse weather and constant threat of hostile fire. The ground fire was so intense that Forward Air Controller aid and direct fighter support was necessary to suppress the ground attack prior to the landings. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Radford reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
