Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Ulyess D. Price for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty. First Lieutenant Price distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Pilot of a transport helicopter in support of friendly infantry near Tra Cu. On the initial insertion into a suspected enemy position, the flight came under intense enemy fire and the aircraft took numerous crippling this. The aircraft was flown from the landing zone 400 meters before it became necessary to execute an emergency landing. He monitored the instruments and kept the Aircraft Commander well-informed of the ground situation. As the aircraft touched down, he stripped the aircraft of radios and other valuable equipment. His outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty were exemplary. His actions are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
