Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Ronald J. Perkins for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 pilot near Dak Seang Civilian Irregular Defense Group Camp, Republic of Vietnam, on 13 April 1970. On that date, Lieutenant Perkins supported friendly ground forces engaged with hostile ground soldiers. Despite intense ground fire, marginal weather, and with friendly forces in close proximity, Lieutenant Perkins made devastating attacks against the hostile positions. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Perkins reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
