Citation:  1.) The Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while serving as radio operator gunner on many high altitude heavy bombardment missions against the enemy over Continental Europe, during the period ending 5 September 1944. By expertly operating his radio equipment during long hours of combat and by warding off vicious fighter attacks with his gun, Sergeant Parker made a substantial contribution to the success of these operations. The heroic determination and disregard of personal safety displayed by Sergeant Parker on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the military forces of the United States.
