The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Airman First Class Michael M. Nobach for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119K Aerial Gunner in Southeast Asia on 13 April 1970. On that date, Airman Nobach flew an armed reconnaissance mission against heavily defended supply routes being used by hostile forces. After locating two truck convoys moving under the cover of darkness, Airman Nobach's aircraft made repeated attacks against the convoys despite very intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. Airman Nobach's superior airmanship resulted in six trucks being destroyed and two damaged. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Airman Nobach reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
