Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Donald R. Neumann, Chief Warrant Officer CW2, United States Army Company A, 229th Aviation Battalion (Assault Helicopter) (Airmobile), for action dated 15 April 1970 for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Chief Warrant Officer Neumann distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 15 April 1970, while serving in the Republic of Vietnam. Even though his helicopter was engaged many times by hostile fire, he remained on station till day light. His outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
