Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer Mark L. Nestor, United States Army, Co A, 4th Avn Bn, 4th Inf Div for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in Cambodia. Warrant Officer Nestor distinguished himself while serving as a Pilot with Company A, 4th Aviation Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. During the period 3 to 10 May 1970, Warrant Officer Nestor was engaged in unarmed aerial reconnaissance missions over known enemy positions in Cambodia prior to and during Operation Binh Tay 1. Operating under adverse weather conditions and over unfamiliar terrain, Warrant Officer Nestor had to fly within small arms range of enemy positions and through friendly artillery strikes to accomplish his missions. Warrant Officer Nestor's persistence in aerial reconnaissance gained much valuable intelligence which contributed immensely to the success of friendly operations and the loss of many valuable supplies and sanctuaries to the enemy. Warrant Officer Nestor's extreme courage, professional skill, and exemplary devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
