Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Daniel J. Mullin for distinguished and meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Middle East Theater of Operations. Lieutenant Mullin, as Pilot on heavy bombardment aircraft participating in operations against the enemy, materially contributed to the successful invasion of Sicily and to the strategic bombing of Italy and other parts of Europe and rendered service vital to the success of the 98th Bombardment Group in its combat operations against the enemy. His courage, skill and steadfast devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and our Army Air Force.
