Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Gene L. Moore for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. Between 3 January 1945 and 25 July 1945, he participated, as Flight Traffic Clerk, in operational flights in unarmed heavily loaded transport airplanes and, as Armorer-Gunner in heavy bombardment combat missions, totaling more than three hundred hours during which exposure to enemy fire was probable and expected. In addition to heavy bombardment combat missions , he has helped supply by air food, clothing, mail, medicinal supplies, and material to our forward elements and to those of our Indian, British, and Chinese Allies. Undaunted by the hazards faced regularly and continuously, Sergeant Moore performed his duties in such a manner that high credit is reflected upon himself and the military forces of the United States.
