Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer James E. Miller for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty. Warrant Officer Miller distinguished himself while serving as Aircraft Commander in support of a Special Forces unit. He volunteered to resupply a lone outpost located on the peak of a treacherous mountain which was largely controlled by enemy forces. He exposed himself to heavy enemy fire and shifting gusts of wind to bring supplies into the outpost. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
