Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant David E. Miller for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an EC-47 Airborne Radio Intercept Operator near Dak To, Republic of Vietnam, on 27 November 1968. On that date, Sergeant Miller was flying an unarmed reconnaissance mission against unfriendly forces in direct support of local ground operations. With great determination and skill, he remained in the area despite the threat of intense and accurate hostile fire in order to obtain vital intelligence which was immediately passed to friendly ground forces. This act contributed immeasurably to the success of local operations. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Miller reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
