Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Benny R. Miller for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a KC-135 Boom operator assigned to the 310th Strategic Wing (Provisional), U-Tapao Airfield, Thailand, on 5 July 1972. On that date, Sergeant Miller penetrated an extremely hostile air defense net in his unarmed fuel-laden tanker to provide emergency fuel to a friendly fighter. His prompt and courageous response saved a valuable tactical aircraft and prevented the possible death or capture of its crew. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Technical Sergeant Miller reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
