Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain James C. Miller for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130 Aircraft Commander at Katum Airfield, Republic of Vietnam on 29 May 1970. On that date, Captain Miller and his crew were repeatedly exposed to enemy ground fire while carrying urgently needed supplies to the austere forward Army base located only a few miles from the Cambodian border in a known high-threat area. Despite the hazardous ground fire and uncontrolled helicopter traffic, Captain Miller was able to deliver over 22,000 pounds of highly volatile aircraft fuel to supply the helicopters nengaged in operations inside Cambodia. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Miller reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
