Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain James Y. Meyers for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4C pilot over Southeast Asia on 1 December 1965. On that date, although hampered by a severe haze restriction, Captain Meyers guided the flight to a successful rendezvous with the Forward Air Controller. The flight proceeded to destroy a target that was heavily defended by intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Meyers reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
