Citation:  1.) The border near Tuzla, posing a threat to American lives and assets. Captain McMurry displayed outstanding tactical discipline and patience by engaging the bandit only when it crossed the border, and again by executing the complex identification matrix autonomously while the bandit was well within firing range. He expertly employed a single missile against the enemy formation, visually confirmed their destruction, and immediately resumed his protection of Tuzla. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain McMurry reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
