Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Warrant Officer 1 Carlton B. McKoy, Jr., for heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Cambodia. Warrant Officer McKoy distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 26 May 1970, while serving as Aircraft Commander during a troop insertion in the Republic of Cambodia. As the aircraft approached the small landing zone, it came under intense fire. Though his ship had received several hits, Warrant Officer McKoy continued on into the area to deliver the troops for the mission. His outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
