Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Douglas A. McGrath for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a tactical fighter Pilot near the Duc Lap Special Forces Camp, Republic of Vietnam, on 10 September 1968. While co-piloting an F-100F jet fighter, he assisted in the attack of a hostile fortification and an invading aggressor force threatening the camp. When his aircraft was struck by hostile ground fire, he heroically continued his duties until forced to bail out. By his actions, the threat was repelled and the camp's safety preserved. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain McGrath reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Douglas A. McGrath for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot near Dong Na, Republic of Vietnam on 15 September 1968. On that date, Captain McGrath led an attack upon a hostile troop concentration in support of friendly ground forces and in doing so, came under heavy ground fire. With disregard for his personal safety, Captain McGrath made several outstandingly accurate low-level ordnance deliveries dangerously close to friendly positions despite adverse weather conditions. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain McGrath reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
