Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Mark T. McGlynn for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Forward Air Controller near Nha Trang, Republic of Vietnam on 30 December 1967. On that date, Captain McGlynn flew at night in support of a beleaguered Korean outpost, directing a combat air support mission which resulted in the break-up of the attack and dispersion of the hostile forces. Despite the hazards of darkness, mountainous terrain, low cloud ceilings, descending flares and hostile automatic weapons fire, Captain McGlynn skillfully directed the application of tactical air power resulting in the repulsion of the attack. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain McGlynn reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
