Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Sergeant Robert E. McGill for extraordinary achievement while participating in more than one hundred hours of aerial flight over territory in Burma where exposure to enemy fire was probable and expected. These missions were accomplished in unarmed cargo type aircraft bearing troops, supplies, and heavy equipment over hazardous mountain terrain into the forward areas. This display of a devotion to duty and a degree of efficiency, above and beyond that normally expected, reflects credit on these pilots and these crew members and on the Army Air Forces of the United States.
