Citation:  1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Second Lieutenant Frank H. McFadden for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight with Marine Scout Bombing Squadron 236 from 16 November 1944 to 30 January 1945. In the successful completion of these missions, Second Lieutenant McFadden contributed materially to the success of United States efforts. By his undaunted courage, superb airmanship, and unyielding devotion to duty in the face of hazardous flying conditions, Second Lieutenant McFadden reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
