Citation: 1.) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Second Class Morton McDonald, Jr., for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as First Radioman of a Patrol Bomber Plane in Patrol Bombing Squadron One Hundred Eighteen, attached to the U.S.S. St. George, during operations against enemy Japanese forces in the Japanese Home Islands and on Korea from May 28 to June 17, 1945. Completing his twentieth mission during this period, McDonald rendered invaluable assistance to his Pilot in carrying out hazardous patrols and assisted in pressing home bombing attacks on Japanese shipping, thereby contributing materially to the success of his plane in the infliction of damage on the enemy. His skill and courageous devotion to duty in the face of hostile anti-aircraft fire and aerial opposition reflect credit upon McDonald and the United States Naval Service.
