The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain William W. Majeska for extraordinary achievement while serving as Deputy Lead Pilot of a group formation on a heavy bombardment mission to Germany, 9 February 1945. When his plane was severely damaged by enemy anti-aircraft fire deep in enemy territory, Captain Majeska was forced to jettison his bomb load in order to maintain his position in the formation. On the return trip his aircraft was forced from the formation while still in enemy territory, but Captain Majeska skillfully flew the crippled bomber safely back to the home base. The outstanding airmanship, determination and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Majeska on this occasion reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Majeska for extraordinary achievement while serving as Lead Pilot of group formations on heavy bombardment missions against the enemy. Captain Majeska, demonstrating exceptional piloting ability led combat formations on successful attacks against Hamm, Germany, 16 February 1945; against Frankfurt, Germany, 9 March 1945; and against Plantlunne, Germany, 24 March 1945 despite the dangers of adverse weather conditions and anti-aircraft fire on each occasion. The leadership, flying skill and courageous devotion to duty displayed by Captain Majeska on these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Army Air Forces.
